Scandisk

Scandisk is a utility that Windows provides which you can use to scan your hard disk for errors caused by improper shut-downs, viruses, and other problems.

Using scandisk to scan and correct errors to your Windows computer can fix damage caused to critical Windows files, improving system performance in the process.


Follow these steps to scan a disk for bad sectors:

  • Press the START button.
  • Click MY COMPUTER.
  • Highlight the disk which you want to scan for bad sector on the list of Hard Disk Drives.
  • Open the FILE menu and select PROPERTIES
  • Select the TOOLS tab.
  • Click the CHECK NOW button.
